This Phlebotomy Certificate program is designed to help you acquire the skills to work as a phlebotomist under the supervision of a clinical laboratory supervisor.
The Phlebotomist is responsible for the proper collection, processing, and waive testing of blood specimens and various patient excretions in accordance with OSHA safety regulations and standards. When you successfully complete the program, you’ll be eligible to sit for the national licensing examination through the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology).
Most colleges that offer the Phlebotomy Certification Program offer options in which you could complete the curriculum usually within one semester – just 16 weeks. But most programs offer the program to be completed in about 18-24 months. The program is a “hands-on” learning environment. You’ll learn patient communication/interaction techniques, anatomy and physiology, safety and infection control, specimen handling and documentation, and legal/ethical considerations of allied health professionals. The Phlebotomy Certification program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills for gainful employment as a Phlebotomist, working under the supervision of a clinical laboratory supervisor. The Phlebotomist is responsible for the proper collection, processing and testing of blood specimens and various other medical samples in accordance with OSHA safety regulations and standards. Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be eligible for application to the national licensing examination through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
After the Phlebotomy Certification Program, Students Will Be Able To:
